Jeffrey Rouse, M.D. –
Chief Medical Advisor
Former Coroner for the City of New Orleans
Dr. Jeffrey Rouse is the former Coroner for the City of New Orleans and an Assistant Professor in the Tulane University School of Medicine. Drawing upon his experience in mass fatality and disaster response, he was the medical partner in TPM’s successful implementation of a temporary morgue for the State of Louisiana, providing staff training and oversight on proper care of decedents, COVID infection control, and proper use of PPE. With his input, TPM had zero cases of secondary COVID infections among staff, hospital partners, and funeral homes and zero instances of decedent misidentifications.

He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Duke University in 1996, received his M.D. from Georgetown University in 2000, and completed residency and fellowship training at Tulane University. He has served as a consultant to various courts, law enforcement, and military organizations.

During Hurricane Katrina, he re-entered his hometown of New Orleans and established a disaster medical clinic, treating citizens and the first responders who were rescuing them. For this on-the-ground disaster response, he was awarded several national awards and a commendation from the New Orleans City Council.

James Crowe, Jr., M.D. -
Infectious Disease Consultant
Dr. James L. Crowe, Jr., M.D. is an established and highly skilled Infectious Diseases specialist who practices throughout the state of Louisiana. Dr. Crowe serves the Bayou region of South Louisiana as well as the New Orleans metro area and Marrero, LA.
After earning his M.D. from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2004, Dr. Crowe completed his Internal Medicine residency at the LSU Health Sciences Center - New Orleans in 2007. Following residency training, he was named Chief Internal Medicine Resident for the 2007-2008 academic year.
In 2009, Dr. Crowe was accepted into the Vanderbilt University Infectious Diseases Fellowship program and completed his training there in 2011. Upon completion of fellowship training in 2011, Dr. Crowe joined the Department of Internal Medicine - Division of Infectious Diseases at Ochsner-Chabert Medical Center in Houma, LA. In addition to evaluating and treating Infectious Diseases in the Bayou region, Dr. Crowe is responsible for teaching and mentoring both medical students and resident physicians. Dr. Crowe is also a private Infectious Diseases consultant at Touro Infirmary in New Orleans, LA and West Jefferson Medical Center in Marrero, LA.
In addition to his clinical obligations, Dr. Crowe has served on or chaired multiple committees which include: the Ochsner-Chabert Internal Medicine Residency selection committee, Bridgepoint Continuing Care Hospital Infection Control / Antibiotic Stewardship committee, Bridgepoint Continuing Care Hospital Medical Executive committee, Ochsner-Chabert Pharmacy and Therapeutics committee and Hospital Utilization Management committee.
Dr. Crowe is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Adult Infectious Diseases. In addition to the above appointments, he is also an Assistant Clinical Professor of Internal Medicine for SABA University School of Medicine in Devens, MA.
Dr. Crowe is committed to the health and wellbeing of all, especially those in rural and underserved communities. He has personally treated hundreds of COVID -19 patients and has advocated for more equitable access to health care, especially during the pandemic.Passionate about live music and travel, Dr. Crowe has two children, Leo and Ruby. When not working, he and his family enjoy camping, hiking and exploring the country.

Esteban Gershanik, M.D., MPH -

Dr. Gershanik is a physician, board-certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, with over 15 years of clinical practice at leading hospitals and 10 years in management and informatics dedicated to advancing operations, policies, and innovation in healthcare quality, safety, and experience for systems, providers, and patients.

He has worked in small and large health systems, academia, start-ups, and the public sector where his principled and clear focus on mission, collaboration, and data has delivered measurable strategies and results for success.
He has extensive disaster management and emergency preparedness experience from the Atlanta Olympics and Boston bombings to leading efforts during Hurricane Katrina and most recently the COVID-19 pandemic for health departments and hospital systems.
